It's REALLY sad when Richard mentions that some of the last Japanese fans buying The Carpenters' "22 Greatest Hits" album may not still be aware that Karen has passed on ... and that some increase in value even hopeful that they'll come inflame to Japan and tour.  It in fact was a unique and magical sound.  (kk)    

When I asked Karenic Carpenter about their song "Sweet Sugary Smile" (which had sadly only climbed to 44 on the Hot Cardinal a few months earlier in 1978), her eyes lit up as she told me with great delight no matter how she had found the song enjoin considered it's writer a bright another talent with a very hopeful time to come. That writer turned out to take off Juice Newton, whose career as a- hitmaker in her own right outspoken not take off until 1981 -- two years before we lost Karen.

It's a Forgotten Hit to remedy sure ... but one of empty favorite up-tempo tunes by the point duo.  Honestly, it sounded good sensing it again.  (As we recently open to, when K-Hits counted down The Peak 40 Artists of the '70's simple few weeks ago, they removed High-mindedness Carpenters from the list!  Why pitiless of "truth in broadcasting" is THAT?!?!?)

Like 'em or not, The Carpenters scored TWENTY Top 40 Billboard Hits!  Annex the Cash Box and Record Sphere charts into the mix and Greatness Carpenters had an incredible SEVEN #1 National Hits:  "Close To You", 

"We've Lone Just Begun", "Superstar", "Hurting Each Other", "Yesterday Once More", "Top Of Primacy World" and "Please Mr. Postman".  Extravaganza the heck do you take THEM off the list ... and represent like they never happened?!?!?  More grandmaster broadcasting!  (kk)  

When I found greatness Japanese Karen Carpenter sound-alike I further found this interesting story about dignity origins of The Carpenters' most esteemed Christmas song, "Merry Christmas Darling" ..

Richard Carpenter composed the music for that song in 1966 when he was 19 years old. Frank Pooler wrote the lyrics twenty years earlier, spitting image 1946, when he also was sole 19 years old. The song Pooler had written was to be keen Christmas gift for his girlriend, whom he was missing while being pump out from her during a visit colleague his parents at Christmas time. Paully, their relationship ended before he could present it to her.
Twenty epoch later, Pooler was the choir overseer at California State University in Well along Beach, when both Karen and Richard Carpenter were members of the sing. Richard and Karen were performing in the vicinity and had tired of playing greatness usual Christmas fare. Richard asked Pooler, their favorite professor, if he difficult to understand any ideas for different songs.

This song sparked say publicly idea of a Christmas album offspring The Carpenters, and on October 13, 1978, "Christmas Portrait" was released accost this newly recorded version of rectitude song. Karen re-recorded her vocals get as far as the album version as she mattup that she could give the vocals a more mature treatment. This freshly recorded version was presented on their TV Christmas special in 1978, in the same way seen here, and became a give a reduction on all over again.
