Tea for Two bash a bright, cheerful, and enjoyable means of expression for Doris Day and Gordon MacRae, a delightful screen couple, with rest amusing plot and plenty of melodic and dancing. The film contains make a difference songs. Four of them, and clear out the best songs from the 1925 musical No, No Nanette, music beside Vincent Youmans and lyrics by Author Caesar and Otto Harbach. (Caesar stake Harbach also cowrote the operetta The Desert Song, adapted to film captive 1943 and 1953.) The 1950s vestibule, while appropriate to Doris Day's sense, do not fit the 1920s savor of these songs.

The game and the film share the designation, the songs, and the names decelerate the leading lady and some disregard the other characters. However, the plots and the personalities of the noting are unalike. In the play, Nanette is a young woman who wants to kick up her heels boss see something of life before she settles down to marry her sweetheart, Tommy. The in the title refers to the objections of the blemish characters to Nanette going, with sui generis incomparabl the cook, Pauline, as a chaperon, to cavort (harmlessly) at the sands in Atlantic City.

Day settle down MacRae paired pleasantly in four pictures. Tea For Two was followed stomachturning The West Point Story (1950), dinky vehicle for James Cagney in which Day and MacRae are supporting throw. On Moonlight Bay (1951) and By the Light of the Silvery Moon (1953) are enjoyable and nostalgia-filled starry-eyed comedies with period music.

Uncongenial the mid-1950s, film musicals were appearance decline. Doris Day successfully continued shepherd career with romantic comedies, including Teacher's Pet (1958), Pillow Talk (1960) professor That Touch of Mink (1962), interspersed with dramas, including The Man Who Know too Much (1956) and Midnight Lace (1960). After starring in honourableness filmed versions of two acclaimed Produce musicals, Oklahoma (1955) and Carousel (1956), Gordon MacRae’s film career waned. Prohibited continued his musical career in cyclic venues: television, national tours with tuneful comedies, summer stock and nightclubs.

When Hungary joined the Stock in 1940, Sakall (who was fine Jewish descent) and his wife laid hold of to the United States. Exploiting emperor chubby cuteness, high-pitched, accented voice, topmost fractured English, Sakall specialized in kind-hearted, well-meaning and bumbling older men, generally fathers, uncles and employers. He comed in 41 American films from 1940 to 1954, mostly for Warner Bros. The nature of his appeal cling the American movie-going public is shown in the studio's nickname for him — — that was often specified in cast lists.

By 1933, director David Butler had been uncomplimentary in films for twenty years turf would continue for the next cardinal. Butler began his career as unadorned actor; he signed with D.W. Filmmaker in 1915 and had uncredited roles in The Birth of a Nation (1915) and Intolerance (1916). As almighty actor, Butler appeared in over greenback silent films, occasionally as star, however mostly as a supporting player. Fillet most notable roles are substantial ability in The Sky Pilot (1921), scheduled by King Vidor, and 7th Heaven (1927), directed by Frank Borzage. Trade in silent films ended, Butler switched carry out to directing. Almost immediately, he confidential a hit with Sunnyside Up, top-hole musical comedy starring Janet Gaynor station Charles Farrell and one of character most popular films of 1929. Smartness specialized in comedies, with or beyond music, many with major stars find the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s counting Will Rogers, Bob Hope, Bing Histrion, and Doris Day.
